One of my favorite decorations to make for pretty much any Holiday or celebration is garlands. It’s quite fascinating how something so simple can instantly elevate the atmosphere in a space and invite a festive spirit! Here’s what you’re going to need to make this particular one:

  • a piece of red print paper
  • scissors
  • a pen
  • a red thread
  • double-sided tape

Instructions

Start by cutting the print paper horizontally into thin strips. Each strip will be used to make one heart, so keep that in mind when considering the thickness you’re going to cut them into. If you want to make a longer garland you’re going to need at least 2-3 more sheets of paper.

After you’ve cut the strips, fold each of them in half.

Take a pen and wrap one end of the strip around it inwards. Repeat the same on the other end. Do the same for each individual piece of paper.

Next up, cut your thread. If you’ve thought of a particular place where you want to hang it, measure it to fit into that spot before you cut it.

Take the double-sided tape and cut a square big enough to fit between both curls of the paper hearts.

Once you’ve placed the tape, put the string on it before you glue both sides of the heart together. Repeat the same until you’ve reached the end of the thread.

Accordion Heart Decorations

If you’re looking for a decoration that’s easy, aesthetic, and fun to make, these accordion hearts are the perfect choice! You can use them to adorn your table, or bed, or make a mini version of them with sweet written messages and put them in a jar as a gift to your loved one. Here are the materials you’re going to need for their making:

  • pieces of red and pink print paper
  • a round plate or a bowl
  • a pencil
  • scissors
  • paper glue

Instructions

Use the plate to outline a circle on a piece of paper. If you want to make a smaller heart, you can use a cup.

Once you’ve outlined the circle, use the scissors to cut it out. You’re going to need one circle to make one heart.

Fold the circle in an accordion pattern. After you’ve done that, punch the folded pieces together to get a long flat strip, like a folded fan.

Pinch the folded circle in the middle and gently fold it in half. Then, use a paintbrush to apply the paper glue on the inner sides of the fold.

Bring both halves together and make sure that they’re well-glued. Your accordion heart is done!

Use the letter stamps to put the name of your mom, loved one, or friend at the front of the paper heart. If you don’t have any stamps at your disposal, you can use a marker or paint. You can make a couple of those and place them around the house for your person to try and find, which can turn into a fun game!
